The Get You Heard event programme
On Saturday 11th August in London, a team of professional trainers and coaches will provide free training to 50 young people in face-to-face communications.
This is the first event hosted by Get You Heard, a not-for-profit training organisation that was created to help young people find their own voice. We provide free training to young adults aged 16-24 to enable them to communicate powerfully with anybody and contribute meaningfully to the creation of their own lives and communities.
This session will help young people to hone their face-to-face skills, focusing on the interpersonal skills they need to make a difference, from making a good first impression to building rapport.
The day will start at 10am and run until 4pm. The programme has three stages:
- Training – A two-hour group session on face-to-face communications, personal awareness and impact that includes positive body language, active listening and how to build rapport with anyone.
- Coaching – Individual one-to-one coaching session of up to half an hour with one of our coaches. The topic will be agreed between the young person and the coach, and address their biggest fear when communicating face-to-face, for example in a job interview or conversing with strangers.
- Real-world application of learning – Real world application of the learning from the training: a face-to-face and one-to-one conversation with a professional. This will last up to half an hour and is also an opportunity to find out about the career path of the professional and about the job they currently do. A team of professionals, from different industry sectors, will be available.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided free of charge.
Attendance is on a ‘first-come, first served’ basis, so
